Town of Westcliffe
At the Town of Westcliffe April 3, 2018 Election, voters will choose the Mayor and four (4) Trustees. Petitions for Mayor and Trustee Candidates will be available and may be circulated for the first time on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Persons interested in running for office can pick up nomination petitions from the Town Clerk at 305 Main Street, Westcliffe, CO. 81252. The signed petitions must be returned to the Town Clerk’s office by 5:00 p.m., Monday January 22, 2018.
The petitions need a minimum of 10 signatures. Each signor must be a registered elector residing within the Town Limits. No registered elector shall sign more than one nomination petition for each separate office to be filled.
- Every registered elector eighteen years (18) of age or older on the date of the election may circulate a nominating petition and hold office in any municipality, and
- If he or she has resided in the municipality for a period of at least twelve (12) consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election.
- No person may be a candidate for two municipal offices at the same election nor hold two elective municipal offices simultaneously.
Monday, March 12, 2018 is the last day a person can establish residency in the State of Colorado. April 3, 2018 is the last day for registered electors to file an affidavit of change of address with the Custer County Clerk’s office, 205 South 6th, Custer County Courthouse.
Persons desiring to vote in the upcoming election and have not registered to vote, may register to vote up to and including Election Day. Persons may register to vote at the Town Clerk’s office, 305 Main Street or the Custer County Clerk’s office, 205 South 6th, Custer County Courthouse.
